Midwestern University (MWU) offers a 2026-2027 one-year internship focused on aquatic animal and wildlife health. This program is intended to provide clinical training to prepare the intern for a career in zoological medicine and for the rigors of a residency program. Training will primarily take place off-site at two locations: OdySea Aquarium and Butterfly Wonderland (9500 E Via de Ventura, Scottsdale AZ) and Liberty Wildlife (2600 E Elwood St., Phoenix AZ 85040), a local wildlife rehabilitation facility. The intern should expect to see a variety of cases and species between both facilities. Time spent at each facility will be approximately 50% of the year. Cases seen while at OdySea Aquarium and Butterfly Wonderland include multiple taxa based on an active caseload and preventive medicine schedule including invertebrates, teleost, elasmobranchs, amphibians, reptiles, avian, terrestrial and marine mammals.
