Position Overview
Philadelphia Performing Arts is seeking a passionate and engaging High School Biology Teacher to join our growing STEM and Early College programs. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and create hands-on learning experiences that connect biology concepts to real-world applications in healthcare, biotechnology, environmental science, genetics, and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging high school biology instruction aligned to Pennsylvania and NGSS standards
- Develop hands-on laboratory experiences and inquiry-based learning activities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom culture
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Integrate technology, project-based learning, and real-world STEM applications into instruction
- Utilize formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction and student growth
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, support staff, and school leadership
- Support students in developing college and career readiness skills
- Maintain accurate records, grading, and communication with families
- Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Science Education, or related field
- Pennsylvania Teaching Certification (or eligibility for certification) preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for student engagement and experiential learning
- Experience with laboratory instruction and safety protocols
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Interest in STEM innovation, healthcare pathways, biotechnology, environmental science, or early college programming is a plus
