Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)- AZ- Campus Facilities

Job Description

Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the facilities on Midwestern University Glendale Campus.  This individual provides general assistance to all other departments/sections as needed.  This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs minor plumbing, electrical and structural systems campus-wide.
  • Events and classroom setups such as setting up tables/chairs and opening/closing moveable walls.
  • General maintenance of campus facilities to include:
    • interior and exterior painting work.
    • repair of interior/exterior floors and walls.
  • Installs and removes outdoor signs, parking signs, traffic control barriers and overhead banners as required.
  • Moves furniture, filing cabinets and desks, etc.
  • Operates pick-up trucks.
  • Operates and maintain power and hand tools.
  • Cleans work areas, tools and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience                                                   

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. One-year certificate from college or technical school desired.  1-2 years of building maintenance required.  Must have valid driver’s license is required.                       

Computer Skills                                               

Computer proficiency in MS Office Word.  Excel knowledge is desired.

Work Environment

Frequently will be working near moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions.  Regularly will be working in high, precarious places.  Occasionally will be working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat (non-weather) extreme cold (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
